Formerly The Vintage Square on Broadway, Offbeat is the experimental brainchild of co-founder-spouses Ariel and John Largé. Bringing their unique vision, love of antiques, and a passion for all things curious and unusual, this bizarre but classy couple scour the Pacific Northwest and other parts of the country for rare items to include in their ever-expanding inventory. Lovers of the antiquated will adore their selection of old furniture, clothing, artwork, knickknacks, books, kitchenware, and appliances. Those who prefer to step into the stranger world of oddities and curiosities will thrill at their collection of bones, taxidermy, fossils, insects, stones, mortuary items, cross-culture collectibles, original artwork, and things floating in jars.

Our Founders

Starting in used books and transitioning thence into the medical field, Ariel Largé brings her personal blend of vintage aesthetic and scientific sensibilities into her shop. Masterminding the creation of Offbeat’s oddities and curiosities collection, Ariel opened the door to a clientele that perhaps hadn’t even realized how much they really did want to know what a hippopotamus would look like up close.

John Largé finished out a rewarding college undergraduate degree program in English Grammar and Literature, bona fides he inarguably earned and then inevitably squandered to open an antiques shop. A veteran odd duck and an old soul, John presents a flair for drama and enthusiastic personable nature that create Offbeat’s unique shop environment, and almost mask his underlying passion for particularly unsettling ghost stories.
